Just eight days until the release of my book Darkwater: A Pastor’s Memoir of Depression and Faith. I’m spending these days asking you some questions related to themes in the book. I invite you to answer in the comment section!
One of the major themes of Darkwater is the public sharing of my struggle with depression. Over the years, I share it in different ways, and I discover that the act of sharing it can sometimes be healing, both for me and for others.
Afterward, many people told me that the story was very meaningful to them. Several people told me I was brave. One man told me, “I know where you’ve been. I’ve been there. Thank you for saying that today.” That day I realized that maybe this pastor thing could work out. And maybe my history could even help.Darkwater, chapter 25
This is a tough question, but it might just be important: have you ever shared something personal or private, which brought healing by sharing it?
Thanks for considering sharing your answer in the comments.
