Advent Light Day 16: Clean, Seen, Zoom Screen

When I woke up this morning, it was pouring – it had been raining heavily all night. Getting the kids on the school bus this morning was an interesting challenge. By the time I left to go to the office, the rain had stopped. It drizzled on and off for the rest of the morning, but the heavy rain was over. But in its wake, the world felt cleansed. Everything felt like it was washed clean, and ready for something new. The temperature started to drop, and winter temperatures are arriving (again) tomorrow. The world renews itself, even in the winter. That’s a sign of God’s light to me.

This afternoon, I had an interview with a writer who’s going to be – well, writing something about me. I mentioned this a few days ago, and I still want to be coy about it. You’ll hear about it soon. But I was so nervous going into the interview – I didn’t know what to expect, and yet it was wonderful. He made me feel so at ease, made me feel so seen, and made me feel very excited about where this is going. Josh showed me a sign of God’s light. (Heh – just occurred to me, the interviewer’s name was Josh, which is the Hebrew version of the name Jesus. Why not receive Advent light from Josh, at this time of year?)

And then this evening, I had a Stewardship Committee meeting that was moved to Zoom because of the potential for heavy winds. The meeting got off to a shaky start, with a series of technical glitches folks were having with the Zoom client. That got worked out, and it was one of the most productive meetings I’ve ever attended. I was so energized by all the ideas and the interactions. We’re going to have a really exciting Stewardship campaign next month.

That’s three places where I saw the light of God today, the third Monday of Advent.
